The Celebration

As the season for graduations comes and goes, I reflect on my attendance at a graduation ceremony at the University of Iowa and another celebration here in Muscatine. They were joyful times.  So many lives gathered to celebrate a significant milestone in the graduate’s life.  As I looked around, I saw familiar faces that I hadn’t seen in years, gathered together around tables overflowing with beautifully arranged platters of food.  As I looked across the lawn, I watched the children running through the grass so green.  It was as if I had been given a snapshot of a scene from heaven.  It made me think about the grand entrance and reunion we will have one day with all of our dear friends and family who have gone on before us. I know this reflection is a gift from God.  We have so much to look forward to in heaven.  May we practice the discipline of delayed gratification as we store up our treasures in heaven rather than here on earth.

"My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning."  Psalm 130:6

This is my first visit to Erika Kate's website. My heart is overwhelmed with emotion! Thank you for sharing her story. I love your vision of heaven! It is just the way I picture it! I am the pround mother of five. I am blessed. There are days when I find myself getting caught up in the day-to-day stresses of parenthood...I try hard to live for the moment. I will try harder. I thank God for every moment I share with my family. Even right this moment. At 10:59pm, my 2 and a half year old is still awake, fighting sleep. Snuggled up next to me in my bed. I wish my bed was big enough for all 7 of us! I will think of Erika Kate and her family when I kiss my kiddos goodnight. I love the pink flip flops on he website. The same ones Erika wore at the PICU, I guess. Erika's smile was incredible! My sister works for the Rite Hite Corporation in Brown Deer, WI. She forwarded me an e-mail about the Erika Foundation. The puctures are amazing. They captured the energy and happiness talked about in the article. She was a lucky girl! You could see the love in her eyes. What a special family Erika was born into! What a little angel! Aimee
